arewereallydoingthisrightnow asked: After your promo for instagram is a picture of someone's eyebrow/eye makeup! How in the world do you get your eyebrows to look like this? Do I use a pencil or powder? A stencil? How should I pluck my brows to mimic this look? I'm at a loss. I've tried everything and it seems nobody has done a tutorial to get a look like that. Please help if you can :)
Hi! I’m guessing you want that fierce, sharp brow look. Usually to achieve this you need to use a pencil or brow gel something creamy that has strong color pay off. Sometimes powder can look too soft which is good for a more natural look but not everyone wants a natural look which is the fun part of makeup! :)
As for the shape, you want to put strong emphasis on the arch of the brow and keep it more natural in the front. You can even create your shape first with a gel or pencil and then fill in with powder so it’s still soft but you’re getting that intense shape. Outlining your brow first allows you create your shape first and basically filling in the lines making it a little easier.
You could also outline your brows with a concealer a shade lighter than your skin tone to make your brows pop a little more and look more sharp. Just make sure to blend out the concealer well!
A great product to get strong brows is the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade. It’s basically a gel liner for your eyebrows. It’s dries to more of a powder finish and is extremely long lasting which is why it’s great for brows.
Did a spot of swatching on my lunch break again having a look at these new shades and seeing just how good the formula is. Bourjois are certainly creating a lot of buzz over it and it was also highly recommended to me by trusted friend and blogger Miss Minnie Rose so I definitely wanted to have a play!
Official information from Bourjois here
So as you can see there are 8 shades incorporating a nude, a coral, pinks and reds. All are very vibrant and strongly pigmented for a proper pop of colour so I wouldn’t recommend these if you’re into more subtle looks! I tried Nude-ist on thinking that if I went for a nude shade and I didn’t like the product for whatever reason it’d be the easiest to remove … but it’s not really nude at all! No on lip photo for proof (sorry) because I was very tired and looked a mess but it’s more of a vibrant rose pink shade. Not unpleasant, but not really me either! I’d like to try Personne Ne Rouge and Grand Cru but on a colour front the other shades are far too saturated for me! I’m also not sure what they were thinking naming one Pink Pong either?!?
Anyway, onto the formula itself. Glided on very smoothly and evenly, the brush combined with the creamy, glossy formula makes application very easy and precise. And they’re not lying about it being long lasting! I wasn’t horrified with Nude-ist so I didn’t try remove it - despite only dabbing on a quick coat the colour lasted 7 hours through drinks, meals etc. And it wasn’t drying.
All very impressive considering the RRP of £8.99. Available at Boots and Superdrug in the UK.
I emailed Charlotte Tilbury to find out their cruelty free status.
Hi! I wanted to know if your products were cruelty free.
Do you (or a third party on your behalf) test your products on animals?
Have any of your materials/ingredients been tested on animals?
Do you sell in countries that require animal testing (like China or Brazil)?
Thank you for your assistance with my questions.
Good to know!
Top to bottom, left to right:
Lush Enzymion moisturiser Lush are great quality and one of the most ethical cosmetic companies out there so their prices are justified but still soo expensive for me to afford to try something out on a whim. I would oh so love to give this oil controlling moisturiser a go though!
Too Faced Blonde-y Brow Pencil I’m really impressed with the GOSH 2-in-1 brush and brow pencil I bought I really want to try a high end one now too to see if there is any difference!
Eucalyptus Charlotte summer dress
Butter London Black Night nail lacquer Such a gorgeous mysterious colour! Girly without being pink!
Bare Minerals Well Rested Under Eye Concealer Alas I’m less impressed with the GOSH under eye pen I bought. It’s ok, but very cakey and dry so you’ve got to be quick to blend it and doesn’t quite cover the dreadful tired mess of my eyes as much as I’d like! I really do need something more high end and this looks like a good bet!
Beauty Box I’m running out of storage space!!!
Illamasqua lipstick in Resist It’s not just the new shades I was lusting over today!
